The capital of Grenada (population 33,000) wraps around the Carenage horseshoe harbour on the southwest coast, pastel warehouses, the Sendall Tunnel, Fort George at the headland. The Eastern Caribbean dollar is pegged 2.7:1 to USD. Grand Anse Beach (3km of white sand, 10 minutes south of town) is where most foreign residents live, furnished 1BR runs XCD 2,400-5,000 ($900-1,850/month). Belmont Estate inland still grows and processes the cocoa and nutmeg that built the island; Grenada produces around 20% of the world's nutmeg.
Hurricane season runs June through November but Grenada sits at 12°N, far enough south that direct major-hurricane hits are rarer than the northern Caribbean. Ivan in September 2004 was the historical outlier (Category 3, 90% of housing damaged). Dry season January through May, 24-30°C. The True Blue and Lance aux Épines peninsulas south of the airport are the established expat clusters, partly because of St George's University medical school (6,000 students).
Visa: 90 days visa-free for most Western passports. The Grenada Remote Employment Programme DNV requires $37,000 annual income, is valid 12 months, renewable. Grenada also runs a Citizenship by Investment ($235k donation, $270k for a family of four), one of the few CBIs with US E-2 treaty access. Internet is fibre 200-1000 Mbps via Flow and Digicel.
